Labor Government Announced the Support at Home program: From 1 November 2025, Support at Home will replace the existing Home Care Packages Program and Short-Term Restorative Care (STRC) Programme.

HUSTON THERE IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM:
And it’s a MONUMENTAL DISASTER for the AGED CARE PARTICIPANTS!
Let me explain why
SHP Quarterly budgets: Participants will receive a quarterly budget that aligns to their funding classification. Participants will work with their provider to choose how to spend their budget across some or all of the services they have been approved to receive. Participants will be able to save up to $1,000 or 10% (whichever is higher) of the value of their quarterly budget across quarters, if available.

Participants needed to accumulate funds to fund large cost independent living equipment purchases.
This change absolutely denies the Participants the power to do this as they know what they need to live independently, the Government has misled all recipients concerning the change to accumulation; as Assistive Technology and Home Modifications Scheme DOES NOT REPLACE the need to accumulate funds for independent living Assistive Technology and Home Modifications
Why?
ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY and HOME MODIFICATIONS SCHEME:
THE GOVERNMENT SALES PITCH2: Participants will have upfront access to assistive technology and home modifications through a separately funded scheme. This means people will no longer have to save their package funds for these supports. The scheme will have a defined list of the assistive technology and home modifications that can be funded.

It can refer to the act of hiding one’s true feelings, intentions, or opinions, or it can mean the state of being dissimilar or different. Essentially, it’s about creating a false appearance or concealing the truth.

Aged care providor revealed to us the GOVERNMENT omitted the crucial fact; this funding is and infact the Participants are going to be seriously worse off :
CAPPED to $15,000 total / Whole of SHP life.

And we have not even addressed all the new exclusions that were funded in the HCP allowed list which was incrediably restrictive along side NDIS spending controls.
REMEMBER THE GOAL of SHP:
Is staying at home independant living for the Aged and Disabled Aged Participants: these changes are going to be the whiteanter to the aged and Disabled Aged Participants independant living!
