Um well I spoke with Lauren 46:53 this morning and uh she’s going okay she’s pretty resilient I’ve got to say 46:59 uh but that that footage was horrific that was the footage of an Australian 47:05 journalist doing what journalists do at their very best at their very best which 47:12 is to go into an environment that’s not comfortable but where in LA it is not 47:20 unreasonable to think that she would not have been targeted uh with a rubber 47:25 bullet.
47:25 it is not unreasonable to think that she could go about her coverage clearly as people can see the footage 47:32 CLEARLY IDENTIFIED AS MEDIA 47:32 an so we have 47:37 already raised uh these issues uh with the US administration 47:43 uh we don’t find it acceptable uh that it occurred and we think the role of the 47:48 media.

Well, SHE WAS CLEARLY IDENTIFIED; WAS CLEARLY IDENTIFIED and um 48:25 you know THERE WAS NO AMBIGUITY uh she wasn’t you know wearing a wearing a tracky SHE’S WEARING A HELMET and 48:32 SOMETHING IDENTIFIED HER AS MEDIA, and you know it is not acceptable. 48:32… uh 48:40 that a journalist I say this here at the national press club from time to time I 48:46 will have disagreements with journalists um that won’t shock you sometimes even with sky 48:54 journalists but Um you know I respect the role that the media play and, and; 49:01 people should respect the role that the media play in our modern society.

Mr. Albanese was speaking at the National Press Club and claimed that 9News U.S. Correspondent Lauren Tomasi was “clearly identified as media” and wearing a helmet when she was shot with a rubber bullet during protests.
